Sauze d'Oulx, Italy
Fast pistes. Late nights. Proper Italy.

Sauze d’Oulx sits at 1,509m above the Upper Susa Valley and combines two things particularly well: lots of enjoyable skiing and a town that still has some life in it once the lifts stop. Its old centre brings together stone buildings, cobbled streets, restaurants, bars and wine cellars, giving it far more personality than a purely purpose-built ski base.
After dark, Sauze becomes one of the liveliest bases in the area. That makes it an especially strong choice for groups who want proper ski days followed by good food, drinks and après, rather than disappearing back to a quiet apartment every evening.
