Skiing in Poland

Poland offers an affordable and surprisingly varied alternative to the traditional Alpine ski holiday, with modern lift systems, forested mountains and lively winter towns across the Tatras and Beskids. Szczyrk provides the country’s greatest concentration of linked piste skiing, Białka Tatrzańska is particularly strong for families and beginners, while Zakopane combines genuine high-mountain terrain on Kasprowy Wierch with the atmosphere of Poland’s self-styled “Winter Capital”.

When to Ski in Poland

The main season generally runs from December through to March, although individual resorts can open earlier or remain skiable into April when conditions allow. Białka Tatrzańska opened its 2025/26 season at the end of November, while Szczyrk remained open until mid-March that winter.

Travel Insurance and Winter Sports Cover

Comprehensive travel insurance with suitable winter sports cover is strongly recommended. UK travellers can use a GHIC or eligible EHIC for medically necessary state healthcare in Poland, but it does not replace travel insurance or cover costs such as private treatment or medical repatriation
