Skiing in Georgia

Georgia combines huge Caucasus scenery, high-altitude skiing and remarkably good value with a ski culture that still feels refreshingly different from the Alps. Gudauri is the country's best-known resort, Bakuriani offers a gentler and more family-focused experience, while remote Goderdzi brings deep snow and adventurous freeride terrain. Add Georgian food, wine and hospitality and it becomes as much a cultural trip as a ski holiday.

When to Ski in Georgia

The main season generally runs from December through to April. Gudauri typically operates into mid-April, while Goderdzi's season also extends from December into April. January and February are the safest choices for mid-winter snow, with March particularly attractive for longer days and high-altitude skiing.

Travel Insurance and Winter Sports Cover

Visitors to Georgia are currently required to hold appropriate health and accident insurance, with minimum cover of 30,000 Georgian lari for the full duration of their stay. The UK has no reciprocal healthcare agreement with Georgia, so comprehensive winter sports insurance is particularly important.
