Livigno sits at 1,816m in a long, high Alpine valley close to the Swiss border, with skiing rising on both sides of town. Its 115km of pistes stretch between roughly 1,800m and 2,900m, providing everything from broad beginner terrain to challenging reds, blacks, freestyle areas and freeride opportunities.
Livigno has an especially strong reputation among snowboarders and freestylers, and that sporting identity was reinforced when it hosted the snowboard and freestyle competitions during the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
There is plenty going on at village level too. Restaurants, bars, shops and its unusual duty-free status make Livigno feel like a destination rather than simply somewhere to sleep between ski days.
