Borovets, Bulgaria
Skiing through the pines.

Borovets feels very different again. Set among the forests of the Rila Mountains at around 1,300m, Bulgaria’s original mountain resort has 58km of marked pistes spread across Sitnyakovo, Yastrebets and Markudjik. The skiing climbs to around 2,500m, combining sheltered tree-lined runs lower down with much more open mountain terrain above, all just 70km from Sofia.
Why
Borovets?
HIGH-MOUNTAIN TERRAIN
Lifts climb from the forested resort towards Markudjik at almost 2,500m.
FOREST-LINED PISTES
Lower runs weave through the Rila pines, giving Borovets a completely different feel from open Alpine bowls.
GREAT FOR LEARNERS
Accessible nursery terrain, ski schools and cruisy pistes make it particularly approachable for beginners.
CLOSE TO SOFIA
At only around 70km from the capital, Borovets is one of Bulgaria’s easiest major ski areas to reach.
