Travel info
UK citizens can travel to Sweden without a visa for up to 90 days within a 180-day period, provided their passport is issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least three months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen Area.
Travel insurance isn't mandatory but is strongly recommended. A UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) provides access to state-provided healthcare in Sweden. However, it doesn't cover all medical situations, such as repatriation or private healthcare. Comprehensive travel insurance that includes medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and winter sports coverage is advisable, especially for skiing trips.
Starting from late 2026, UK travelers will need to apply for an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) visa waiver.
Sweden offers fantastic ski resorts with a mix of modern facilities and pristine nature. Åre is the largest and most popular, boasting extensive slopes and vibrant nightlife. Sälen is great for families, with gentle runs and cozy villages. Hidden gems include Riksgränsen, famous for its midnight sun skiing, and Idre Fjäll, offering varied terrain and fewer crowds. Vemdalen provides a peaceful setting with well-maintained pistes. Sweden’s resorts are perfect for both beginners and advanced skiers seeking scenic, uncrowded experiences.
